I could not be more pleased with my purchase. Delivery was swift from Montreal to outside Ottawa, significantly less than 48 hours. The rower is even more compact and more aesthetically pleasing than I had expected, and I appreciate that it was delivered almost fully assembled, my DIY input taking less than 10 minutes to get rowing. The unit is very ergonomic, the rollers work smoothly and very quietly, and the sound of the swooshing water is so soothing that my wife says hearing it from our bedroom next door (to our den) helps to put her to sleep at night. Wonderful value for money, and the unit stands like a little work of art in the den corner when I put it away.

Amazingly smooth and so quiet, I've tried a few different rowing machines in the past. This one is by far the best and such an amazing price!! Highly recommend

Love it but...

Love the size and the folding feature. Well built. However, straps are impossible to adjust compared to other brands which can be adjusted with just 1 hand. Thinking of replacing straps with ones with velcro. Once folded, rolling it is not optimal. Screen is hard to read because it has no back light.

Almost a five

I have been using the rower daily for about a month. It is sturdy, compact, and gives me an excellent workout. The action and comfort are comparable to the professional rowing machines at our community center, it folds easily for storage, sets up easily. I have only two complaints, neither would be deal breakers for me. First, the monitor has been erratic. The display periodically malfunctions, failing to show numbers correctly, flashing, going blank, failing to increment correctly. Removing and replacing the batteries has so far solved the problem temporarily but it returned. The batteries seemed to be loose so I padded the battery cover to hold them more firmly and this has so far solved the problem. I will repost if the problem returns. The second complaint is the wheels. When folded the rower must be moved carefully or it hangs up on minor irregularities in the surface and is very difficult to move and maneuver on a short pile carpet. Larger wheels would probably solve the problem. That said, I consider the rower excellent value for money and even with the wonky monitor, I can still recommend rower highly.

Pleasing sound and movement

Impressed by the looks and compactness of this unit. My husband and I are in our late 50’s. We heavily reviewed other water rowers and even the three options we had with Ascend. We wanted to feel and hear the water experience. It was at a price point that fit our budget.We felt it was important and satisfying to support a Canadian company. It was very easy to install. Yes the tank is smaller and the resistance isn’t as strong as other water rowers ,however, being my husband and I are in our late 50’s we find it perfect for our needs. Low impact, adjustable resistance to how fast or slow we want to row and it’s meditative quality gives us the best of both worlds-Physical exercise and mindfulness. As we just received this unit we can’t attest to the longevity of the unit. It seems to be well put together, glides well and the rower handles are balanced to the right angle in the pulling movement. The strap system is ok. The electronic unit is basic but adaptable. It is abit hard to see the numbers due to the angle of its placement. I don’t really look at it until I’m almost done anyways. I think for it’s price point and it’s compactness it’s a well rounded unit that’s perfect for the average physically fit person and for those who don’t want high impact movements on their joints. Oh and the rower utilizes 82% of your muscles in your body for a more well rounded workout compared to other types of training equipment. This fact alone made us want to purchase a rower in the first place. The shipping out to Saskatchewan was free and the rower was shipped within two days of the order made. It took a bit longer to get here than anticipated but through no fault of Ascend itself but of the shipping connections to get to my rural shipping address. The company was easy to communicate with and very helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from them again if I have a need to for their other lines of equipment. There isn’t much more to say that I’ve already said. If you are reading this, don’t hesitate to support and by from this Canadian company.

Good Rower

Nice rower, smooth and works well. Easy to fold up and move out of the way. One of the best home gym pieces I have found in this price range.
